Contract Manufacturing

We specialise in formulating and manufacturing high performance cosmeceutical skin care products which can include creams, gels, serums, lotions and cleansers.

We cater to smaller indy brands who prefer smaller batch quantities from MOQ of 200 units up to several thousand.

We can formulate custom products where you own the formulation that remains exclusive to you and your brand. This formulation service includes:

  • Custom formulation by qualified cosmetic chemists

  • Three rounds of product samples

  • Raw material sourcing & specification

  • Full IP ownership of final formula

The cost for our custom formulation service is $4950 + GST per product.

Formulation development usually involves phone discussions about product direction and ingredients that allign with your brand. From there samples are usually produced within a few days and couriered to your door for you to try them. You evaluate them on your end and provide us with feedback. Modifications to the formulation are made if required and a new sample is sent for you to try. This process occurs until you happy with the formula (three rounds are covered in the formulation cost). Once the formula is finalised and locked in we then determine the final price of the product. Stability testing/PET is recommended.

Stability Testing

New cosmetic products ideally should undergo stability testing which verifies that your formula maintains performance, stability and appearance across its intended shelf life.

For stability test details visit:

https://www.privatelabelcosmeceuticals.com.au/stability-testing

This test takes 6 months to achieve a 2 year expiry date. If the product remains stable by the third month this indicates it has a minimum 12 month expiry and most brands proceed to production at this 3 month point while the test continues to the 6 month mark to achieve a 2 year expiry.

The cost of this test to give a 2 year expiry date is $1200 + GST per product. This includes 500g of product sample to be tested.

Preservative Efficacy Testing

Preservative Efficacy Testing is also recommended which validates that your formula's preservation system protects against microbial contamination. We use a NATA accredited lab for our PET testing. They can test to USP or EP standards if you are looking to export to US or EU markets. The test itself takes 28 days but allow 5-6 weeks for the reports to be available.

The cost is $1150 + GST. Allow for the cost of a 200g sample to be sent to the lab for testing.

Production

Once product testing has confirmed the stability and preservative efficacy you can move to production.

Products are produced and filled in our lab on the Gold Coast. We perform batch testing on each batch and supply a Certificate of Analysis for each batch. We retain batch records for 3 years.

The final product is then shipped to your location of choice.

Time Frame to Launch

Usually allow around 4-6 months to product launch. Formulation, sample production and client testing can take 1-2 months depending on how many rounds of changes are needed. Then allow 3 months for stability/PET testing to allow a12 month expiry which allows you to go to market with confidence and finally allow for any delays sourcing ingredients and packaging which usually come from overseas.

Compliance

GMP-aligned manufacturing, AICIS-compliant ingredient handling, batch-level traceability, certificates of analysis and compliance documentation suitable for Australian retail and export.
